Physical Therapy at OSI

At Orthopedic Sports Institute our highly trained and experienced physical therapist providers specialize in outpatient orthopedic conditions and our treatment programs are tailored to meet the needs of all patients, from the worker's compensation patient to the geriatric population, and to both athletes and non-athletes alike.

Physical therapy is used to treat joint, bone, muscle, tendon, ligament and nerve related dysfunctions. The goal of physical therapy is to help alleviate/eliminate pain, improve/restore range of motion, strength, endurance, and ultimately work to optimize patient's ability to function in all aspects of life.

John Sayler, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Physical Therapist


John Sayler, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT has been practicing physical therapy with an emphasis in manual therapy since graduating from the University of North Dakota where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2005. He is a Board-Certified Specialist in Orthopaedics (OCS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) through Evidence in Motion (EIM).


In addition to his work as the Physical Therapy Director at Orthopedic Sports Institute - PT, he was faculty for Medical Minds in Motion from 2016 to 2019 and is currently faculty for Evidence in Motion teaching advanced certification courses on the lumbopelvic region as well as the lower extremity. He specializes in the treatment of patients with complex orthopedic conditions as well as post-surgical management. He has extensive orthopaedic manual therapy experience believes in a hands-on approach with his patients. This allows him to better discover the root cause of the injury in order to prevent future injuries and help patients become more active individuals. He treats all spinal, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and foot issues along with headaches, dizziness/vertigo, TMJ and balance/fall concerns. John has worked with newborns to individuals over 100 years old. He has volunteered with young athletes to promote injury prevention in training and has worked with professional and Olympic athletes. He thoroughly enjoys spending time hiking and spending time with his absolutely beautiful wife (Honey) and two amazing children (Lillian and Jackson) who mean the world to him.

John maintains various professional memberships including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and the Idaho and Washington Physical Therapy Associations. He has previously been the Spokane County District Chair for the Physical Therapy Association of WA (PTWA), a Delegate for PTWA and was on the Spokane County Balance and Fall Coalition.

Shelby Fruechte, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist


Shelby Fruechte is originally from Dickinson, ND. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD, where she was a member of the cross country and track teams. She then received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of North Dakota in May of 2020.

Shelby enjoys treating patients of all ages and walks of life, but especially has an interest in treating runners and other endurance athletes. She has a passion for health and wellness and wants to work together with her patients to get them back to doing the things they love.

In her free time, Shelby enjoys running, hiking, biking, and exploring Northern Idaho with her husband, Mark, and their adventure pup, Cora.

Charlayne Streeter, PTA, ATC

Physical Therapy Assistant


Charlayne Streeter, PTA, ATC graduated from Eastern Washington University in Sports Medicine in 1991. After working for some time, she returned and earned her degree as a Physican Therapy Assistant. Charlayne has over 28 years of experience working in orthopedic and sports medicine clinic settings. While she is knowledgable in all aspects, she has a particular interest in knee and shoulder conditions and procedures.

Luke Haxton, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist


Luke Haxton is originally from Eagle, ID. He graduated from Washington State University in 2015, with a B.S. in kinesiology before going on to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy at South College at Knoxville, Tennessee in 2019.

He enjoys treating patients of all ages. His areas of interest include treating patients with knee pain (either post-operative or non-operative), lacrosse players, and patients who might benefit from therapeutic pain education. His goal is to get each patient to achieve their best life.

He and his wife are huge pet lovers and have multiple pets at home. He enjoys boating in the summer and skiing in the winter.
